Krugman's rules for research

My rules for research:

1. Listen to the Gentiles
2. Question the question
3. Dare to be silly
4. Simplify, simplify

Unfortunately, I have only the vaguest idea of what he means be any of these. I'm not getting up at 2am CT to hear him explain, but I suspect there will be a transcript somewhere.
